CA Crashing?
Mar 05th, 2010, 8:10pm

During the last few days I was busy with school along with other things, and wasn't able to get on CA much. I tried coming back on a few days ago, only to find the text was smaller than before, I couldn't join any servers/click any buttons, and everything was choppy. A few minutes after, the game crashed with an Engine.exe error.

I tried redownloading the game multiple times with no change, defragmented, no change, ran CCleaner, no change. I really am not sure what I need to do, besides get a less crappy computer.

I'm running a 32-bit Vista, not really good with computers so I'm not sure what you need. If you need any extra info (More computer info, error code), just ask, I'll try to find it.

Thanks!

Try lowering your in game settings to the minimum. Put everything to the lowest setting and then work your way up from there.

Same stuff, didn't change anything that I noticed.

I usually play with it on the lowest setting anyway, but after I re-downloaded the game reset everything. Now whenever I try to go into the settings, it freezes up, and when I go to boot up task manager to shut it down, it automatically shuts down and gives me the error message.

Are you able to play any other games without any issues?

Have you done a complete uninstall before trying to reinstall?

A few questions.  What are you basic specs? (Processor speed, RAM size, video card).

When would be the last time you upgraded your video driver?

Do you run the game from the website or do you run it from your desktop (I.E. do you log onto the website and hit the big start button to open the game?)

When you're installing and patching, are you allowing that to use administrative rights?

And last but not least, are you running any anti-virus programs?  If so what?

Like I said I suck when it comes to computers but I'll try to answer the stuff I can:
3 GB RAM
AMD Sempron SI-40 2.0ghz
NVIDIA GeForce 8200m G

The updating drivers is probably my problem. Near when I first got my computer I was trying to do something related to that (no clue what I was trying to do) and ended up screwing my display drivers. Whenever my computer starts up now it always has me download "Unidentified Driver". =\

I run it from the website.

No I don't use admin rights while patching, I'll try that in a bit (getting tired of re downloading the game a ton though)

And Anti Virus is Norton (Dad's a Norton freak, not sure why.) Also run Malwarebytes and SpyBot Search and Destroy.

Ewww a laptop.  That video card is definitely showing it's age.  But here are the drivers you need, try updating them directly from the card manufacturer and not windows.

http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook_winvista_win7_195.62_whql.html

The only reason I suggest administrative rights during install is because vista is a real asshole about paths and what not.  You might also want to try disabling Norton during the install and patch just to be on the safe side.  You can turn it right back on afterward.

Error Code 2 is anti-virus/firewall blocking you from connecting to Nexum.

"Error name -2,10060"

This error is a result of firewall and anti-virus settings attempting to block the game. Please adjust your firewall and anti-virus settings to accommodate the game.

I had this problem awhile ago, I just had to make sure Anti-virus permitted CA to run and I was set.

And a small trick i've learned to lower some lag. Put the Engine.exe down to low priority.

I turned off the firewall when I ran the game, and it booted up. I was able to make it through a game without crashing, but it was still impossible for me to play. The game was choppy, not lagging, just choppy, I was freezing for a few seconds then teleporting, going back to where I already walked, etc.

I think it has to do with my graphics card just being screwy probably, or some other computer problem. Should be solved when I get a new one in June.
